An inmate in Newark is accused of offering another inmate 10-thousand dollars to kill his wife, several friends and a Licking County judge. 56-year old Byron Magruder, of Thornville, is charged with seven counts of attempted murder. Newark police chief Darrell Pennington says Magruder knew several of the seven people he allegedly wanted inmate Roger Adams to kill. The Licking County Sheriff's Office says it learned of the alleged plot when Adams turned Magruder in. Magruder's attorney says he will plead no guilty by reason of insanity in Licking County Common Pleas Court on Monday. Magruder has been jailed since July on retaliation, telephone harassment and aggravated menacing charges.
