In an effort to streamline convenience and necessity, the Muskingum County Library System will be doling out regular-sized and keychain-sized, bar-coded library cards. Library spokesperson Blair Tom says the libraries received many inquiries about smaller, more convenient cards.Card holders will still be able to request, reserve and check out books by using their identifcation cards, regardless of their size. After much research and discussion, library officials decided to update cards. New cards will be dispersed starting September 16. Anyone currenly owning a library card can update to the new system for a minmal fee of one dollar.
