The Greenwood Revitalization Project is well underway, but Monday night at the City Council meeting one Greenwood resident voiced concerns about the plan. Up for Council's discussion was the acquisition and necessary demolition of property for the project to proceed. Council opted for a second reading of the issue...when Greenwood resident Jacob Hempfling approached Council with concerns. Mr. Hempfling feels that to improve the area, raising the City's housing standards is a better approach. Eric Brown, Development Assistant for the Zanesville Housing Development Corporation pointed out that a cost analysis was conducted. It was determined that fixing the existing properites would cost too much money, and that it is more economical to build new structures. Council will read the proposed issue and determine at the next meeting which direction to go. Mr. Hempfling's concerns were addressed by both Mr. Brown and Meg Deedrick, Director of the Community Development Department.
