Thursday the City of Zaneville asked residents to limit their use of water due to low water levels. This is the second time this year the city has issues a voluntary measure. How serious is our situation? According to Bill Houston, Executive Director of the Farm Service Agency, we are in a moderate to slight drought. Our sporadic rainfall and the higher than normal temperatures couple together to produce these drought-like conditions. Grass and plants are not the only victims...livestock is also impacted. Mr. Houston also says that what we need is substantial rainfall to adequately replenish our grass and pasture lands. He goes on to say that crop production is also suffering.
