The city of Zanesville is dealing with a major water main break today. It happened this morning on Iron street. The break has cut water service to the north end of Zanesville. City water department manager Bob Pletcher says a 20 inch water main burst. Pletcher says crews are working to fix the problem. But, as a result of the incident, a boil advisory is in effect for Zanesville water customers until further notice. There is also a boil advisory for some customers of the East Muskingum Water Authority. If you recieve the green and white must boil your water before using until further notice.
The water problems are also forcing some area schools to close. The Zanesville city school district canceled classes today. And Ohio University Zanesville announced that it is suspending classes for the rest of today and tonight.
