A fast thinking store clerk spoils the plans of a would be robber by using a canister of mace. Shortly before 6 this evening, a 32-year old Zanesville man confronted a clerk at the R and K drive thru on Ridge Avenue. The suspect, who was using a knife, demanded money and forced the clerk into the back of the store where, unknown to him, another clerk was located. Once the second clerk saw what was happening, he maced the suspect who then fled from the scene on his bicycle. The suspect was apprehended by the Zanesville Police Department with the help of witnesses only minutes after the incident. The suspect's name is being withheld until he is formally charged on Monday. No one was injured in the incident.
