Officials are giving a word of caution today from animal experts concerning dogs and the West Nile Virus. Authorities say older dogs, puppies and dogs with weak immune systems could be at risk for contracting the potentially deadly disease. The warning comes after an 8-year old dog in Illinois dies from the virus. It's the first reported case in the United States of West Nile Virus in dogs. Gary Graham, the Executive Director at the Zanesville Animal Shelter says it would be a good idea to take pets in at night especially when mosquitos are out.
