Whoever said looks are everything must have been working on a revitalization plan to upgrade a downtown cityscape. Members of the Zanesville Downtown Association joined forces with several, local banks and decided to fund renovation projects -- without the help of outside forces or grants. ZDA and local banks created $2.2 million in funding for housing and property loans and funding for refurbishing projects. ZDA manager Dana Matz said curb appeal is everything. Thousands of visitors pass through the Zanesville Welcome Center yearly, and they're always inquiring about downtown Zanesville. Matz says upgrading downtown buildings will help draw attention and business to the heart of the city. Merchants and property owners with existing buildings can apply for loans as well as anyone wanting to purchase a building. For more information contact the ZDA at the Zanesville Welcome Center or visit the Zanesville/Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce website.
