Govenor Taft has formally announced a proposal that could lead to dicounted prescription drugs for more than two million seniors and disabled Ohioans. The state plans to contract with Member-Health Incorporated to arrange discounts and rebates with drug companies. Under the plan, seniors and disabled Ohioans would be able to use their Golden Buckeye card for prescription discounts at participating pharmacies. Govenor Taft says he hopes to have the program operating in January. The state's controlling board must still approve the deal.
