There are many, colorful items associated with the month of October including orange pumpkins, yellow haystalks and brown leaves, but black cats are one of the most recognizable symbols of the tenth month and that scares many animal advocates. Concern escalated in the Muskingum Valley in the past, couple of years, after several black cats were dropped off to the Zanesville Animal Shelter after being abused and tortured. Many occult members toture white and black cats, during the month of October. Shelter representatives say they're not taking any chances anymore and from now on, black and white cats will not be adopted out from the beginning of October until after Halloween. Animal advocates say the best thing to do is monitor all white and black cats. Outdoor cats should be brought inside until Halloween is over. Animal advocates say nothing else can be done, but safe is better than sorry.
