An 18-month old Newark baby boy is dead after allegedly being shaken to his death last night while in the home of a caregiver. 23-year old Christopher Griffis stood unjaunted in a Licking County Courtroom after being charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of 18-month old Hunter Ross. Police say it all happened in Griffis's Newark apartment around noon Wednesday. Seargent Ken Hinkle of the Newark Police Department says, "The baby was in a non-breathing state but had a heart beat and a pulse and the squad was there immediately. They were there at the apartment and to the hospital in six minutes." Hunter was slipping fast and was then rushed to Children's Hospital in Columbus where he lost his battle to live. The suspect, Christopher Griffis, is being held in the Licking County Jail on $200,000 bond.
