Many consider MRI's to be scary medical procedures, but improved technology has "opened" up many options. Cambridge is now home to an "Open-MRI" a test that allows patients more freedom for mobility and more time to feel comfortable about the test. Technician Wendi Bradley says that claustrophobic people like the feeling of openess. A closed MRI feels like a tunnel, and can scare patients. Bradley says the uneasy or embarrassed feelings are normal; many have reservations about the procedure. But the Open-MRI allows visitors to sit with the patients. The Open-MRI is the only one in Guernsey and Noble Counties. It is affiliated with the Genesis HealthCare System.
