The City of Zanesville is trying to clean up its act so the city code enforcement supervisor employed the use of jailed inmates to help clear overly filthy property lots. City officials say they've watched many residents tarnish the squeaky clean reputations of some neighborhoods, so Code Enforcement Supervisor Tim Smith is cracking down on offenders, saying he'll work with them to keep them out of court, but if communication is not established he will take the necessary actions. Ordinary residents don't need to worry about simple lawn ornaments, but people who use their lawns as trash dumps can expect visits from city officials. Smith says every property in Zanesville will be reviewed, so if you have a heap of junk, you might want to dump it somewhere else before they dump a fine -- or jail time -- onto you.
