A Gaysport landmark burned to the ground, earlier this morning. Wayne Township Fire Department received a phone call from clerks at Green Acres gas station and convenience store around 5:30 a.m. --shortly after clerks opened the store and noticed flames in the office area. Flames engulfed much of the store and its surrounding area. Even though fire stretched out toward gas pumps, fire officials say pumps were not in any danger because they have safety valves. Still, many other objects were in the path of the fire and suffered extensive damage -- or in some cases, complete destruction. Authorities couldn't estimate the amount of damage because the owner lives in Columbus and could not be reached for additional information.
