The Genesis Health Care system today announced a change in services and with it the elimination of 31 jobs. Genesis chief executive officer Tom Sieber says that the health care facility will close its inpatient open psychiatric-detox unit and reduce the size and location of its skilled nursing facility unit. Sieber says changing reimbursement from insurers and increasing costs are cited as the primary reasons for the changes. The 31 people who lost their jobs will be allowed to apply for other positions in the hospital system or they can accept a severance package.
