The Morgan county sheriff’s office has one suspect in custody in connection with the murder of an area man. Sheriff Tom Jenkins says deputies were called to a home on state route 555 in Union township and found a victim of an apparent gunshot wound. The suspect is identified as 39-year-old Robert Ward of Malta. He’s charged with one count of murder. He’s being held on 500-thousand dollars bond. The victim is identified as 33-year-old David Winchell of Crooksville. Winchell is Ward's former wife's son. The shooting happened Monday just before midnight. Investigators have not released details of a motive in the case, which remains under investigation. Winchell is being held in the Southeast Ohio regional jail in Nelsonville. He's scheduled to appear in Morgan county court on Monday.
