Some area resident took their concerns over crime and prostitution in their Putnam area neighborhood to small claims court on Thursday. Several homeowners say they seen suspicious activity around 347 Woodlawn avenue and believe alleged acts of drug dealing and prostitution will bring their property values down. So they sued landlord John Kemp with 13 individual lawsuits for three-thousand dollars a piece. The case was heard by Zanesville municipal court judge Bill Joseph on Thursday. The group lost it’s battle in court. The judge sided with Kemp saying there was not enough evidence in the case. Kemp says he does the best he can to find reliable tenants. Kemp says “I always try to get the best people, but it does not always work out.” Kemp says he plans to sell the house.
