A man accused of kidnapping a Zanesville cab driver and a passenger on New Year’s Eve now faces an indictment. 22-year-old Matthew Rupe of Bidwell was indicted on one count of aggravated robbery and two counts of abduction. Rupe was arrested after he allegedly kidnapped the driver and ordered her to drive to Pomeroy, Ohio. According to Detective Ric Roush of the Zanesville police department, the cab driver convinced Rupe that she needed to make a stop for gas. When the cab stopped, Rupe allegedly got out of the vehicle and fled. Detective Roush says the suspect was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
