America will honor one of its greatest historical figures on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Locally, the Martin Luther King Jr. scholarship foundation will be hosting its annual prayer breakfast. The breakfast not only is to honor the memory of King, it’s also a scholarship ceremony for outstanding area minority students and a presentation for outstanding community members. Since the inception of the event over 63 scholarships have been awarded. The breakfast is scheduled for Monday January 20th at the Hallowed Hill banquet center on the East Pike. It’s open to the public. You can purchase tickets at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Welcome Center.
