For almost seven years Muskingum County, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the Ohio Attorney General's Office have been working on a plan to improve the county's sewer system. After the EPA and the Attorney General's Office investigated improper sewage plants in the 1990's, the county has agreed to a consent order requiring a payment of $25,000. The county also must close two of its package plants but the West Muskingum Plant will remain open for the time being. Next tuesday a public notice will be available for comments. For a copy of the consent order, call 740-385-8501.
