Senate republicans say they’re not ready to agree to an Ohio house plan to balance a budget deficit without taxes. Teri Geiger, chief of staff to senate president Doug White, sys the G-O-P controlled senate need to know more about how the house plan works. House speaker Larry Householder wants to strip Governor Taft’s proposed increases in cigarette and alcohol taxes from a bill balancing a 720 million dollar budget deficit. Householder says the house will wait until April to see if a temporary sales tax increase is needed to balance the budget. Geiger says it could be difficult to raise money with a temporary increase if lawmakers wait that long. The budget must be balanced by June 30th.
