The race for mayor in the city of Newark is off and running. After Mayor Frank Stare announced earlier this year that he will not be seeking another term in office, many government officials speculated on who would seek the office. The first person to take on the challenge is Newark City Council member republican Sheri Hottinger. Up until today, Hottinger may have run unopposed. But former state representative democrat Marc Guthrie and democrat council member Bruce Bain are expected to announce their candidacy soemtime today.
