Earlier this week the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services declared Muskingum County a disaster area as a result of the winter storms that blanketed snow in our area. With this title Muskingum, Morgan, Noble and Guernsey counties would all qualify for some emergnecy assistance for individuals who suffered structural damagers or lost wages. Thursday afternoon the Muskingm County Job and Family Services was informed that this aid will be adjusted. Meaning aid originally designated as disaster aid will now be placed in two categories. One is for disaster assistance for counties who wish to receive reinbursement for snow removal. According to Randy Cochrane, Director of the Job and Family Services in Muskingum County, this is the category that Muskingum County falls into. The second category is for counties who need emergency assistance. These counties are in the southern part of the state including Gallia, Adams, Meigs, Lawrence, Jackson and Scioto. In these counties the need is much greater, as lives are in danger.
