A Byesville man accused of killing his mother and seriously injuring his father has been found incompetent to stand trial. Guernsey County Common Pleas Court Judge David A. Ellwood ruled earlier this week that 34-year-old David W. Mallet is not able to stand trial in the October 12, 2001 shooting of his parents at their Counquer Hill Road home in Cambridge. Mallet's mother, 54-year-old Janie Lou Mallet, died from a shot to the chest. His father, 57-year-old Raymond Mallet, was shot several times but survived. Mallet pled innocent by reason of insanity in November of 2001. He said the reason that he shot his parents is because the gun cabinent was too full.
