You may have heard of the Amber Alert, but have you heard about A Child Is Missing? Muskingum County is ready to put out the new program to help parents in our area should their child come up missing. The new program will only be accessible by officials. This means if parents think their child is missing or feel there is suspicious activity in the neighborhood they can call 9-1-1. Then officers will be able to evaluate the situation and possibly use the computerized system. The system will inform media agencies, hospitals, and several law enforcement agencies, which in turn will inform the public. Sheriff Bob Stephenson says he feels this program is necessary because it is so successful in other states.
