The Muskingum County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate overspending at the County Home. According to the Home's Administrator Rebecca Cooper, employee Marsha Shumate was placed on paid administrative leave in February after Cooper discovered invoices for large sums of money. The invoices were for several vendors for office supplies. Cooper, who spoke with the Sheriff's Department last week, says they hope to have the matter cleared within one week to ten days. The payment discrepancies are from the last few years, from 1998 to 2002. Shumate remains on administrative leave. So far, no charges have been filed in the matter.
