A Senate Committee is set to vote Monday on Governor Taft's plan to increase the state gasoline tax by six cents a gallon. The 4.7 billion dollar construction budget would raise Ohio's 22-cents-a-gallon gas tax by two cents in each of the next three years. It would raise about 400 million dollars for highway construction. If the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee apprives the plan Monday, it could go to the full Senate Tuesday. That would give both chambers three days to hammer out any differences between the House and Senate versions.
