An early afternoon accident on State Route 60 sends one woman to the hospital and another to the county jail. A local resident received the surprise of his life as he tried to enter his driveway, located at 325 Wayne Avenue. As he turned his silver 1997 Ford pickup truck, a 20-year-old woman from Columbus, who was behind him, was unable to slow down her white 1989 Chevy Celebrity. The Celebrity made contact with the truck and side-swiped the car of a Zanesville woman, who was traveling northbound on Wayne Avenue. The 20-year-old fled the scene, but was later taken into custody by the Zanesville Police Department. She is being held pending bond and is being charged with driving an unsafe vehicle and hit and skip. The driver of the Ford truck did not sustain any injuries, however the Zanesville woman was tranported to Good Samaritan by Community Ambulance for minor injuries. Names of the parties involved in the accident are not available at this time.
