Governor Taft is authorizing a delay in the state’s new instant bingo law. The law regulating the sale of instant bingo tickets won’t take effect until July first. It was supposed to take effect today. Confusion over the law forced the three-month delay. Backers of the law say non-profit organization need more time to figure out the rules. Those groups had just over three months to get licenses and work out agreements with businesses that they can join with to sell the tickets. The law eliminates storefront instant-bingo parlors and allows non-profit groups to sell pull-tab games and keep part of the profits.
