The Ohio Supreme Court has denied the state’s request to delay proceedings in a long-running school funding lawsuit. The court today unanimously denied Attorney General Jim Petro’s request to keep Perry County Judge Linton Lewis from acting in the case. Still before the court is the bigger issue of whether Lewis has jurisdiction over the 11-year-old Derolph lawsuit. Petro has also asked the court to rule that the case is over and Lewis does not have jurisdiction. The Supreme Court today also ruled that the coalition of schools that brought the lawsuit could argue against Petro’s position on jurisdiction.
