Governor Bob Taft made a visit to Licking County for a special bridge dedication and it isn’t an ordinary bridge. It’s a way for bike riders to travel from city to city like never before. The bridge will be the important link that will enable people to ride to and from various cities including: Granville, Alexandria, Johnstown, Newark, and eventually Heath and Coshocton. Its location is in Newark, between Cherry Valley and Reddington Roads. The bridge is unique because it was used in 1875 and it wasn’t strong enough to withhold the modern day vehicles. Gilbert Reese, C.E.O. of Evans Foundation, was able to reconstruct the bridge and use it as the bike trails connecting structure. Governor Taft says he is delighted to have a new trail to ride his bike on, a trail that didn’t come with a hefty price tag.
