The Big Bear Grocery chain has announced some job cutbacks. Penn Traffic, which owns Big Bear, has eliminated 59 jobs at stores in Zanesville, Athens and in West Virginia. Business First magazine is reporting that the cuts were made to stores to allow the stores to operate in an economically sound fashion. Penn Traffic cut 40 jobs in Newark in March when it closed a Big Bear Plus store on North 21st Street.
