The White House is confirming President Bush’s plans to visit Canton and Lima on Thursday to talk about his economic plan. He’s to visit the Lima Army Tank plant in northeast Ohio, and Congressman Ralph Regula says the Canton stop will be at the Timken Company, whose chief is a major republican fundraiser. Senator Geroge Voinovich is one of a handful of republican senators blocking any tax cut over 350 billion dollars. Bush’s original proposal was double that amount. White House spokesman Ari Fleisher says the visit is not an attempt to pressure Voinovich, though senior White House officials speaking on the condition of anonymity have said that’s exactly what the trip is about.
