The Ohio Supreme Court is debating whether a person can be convicted of violating the very protective order he or she sought against an abusive individual. The court is considering the case of a Newark woman convicted of violating a protective order against an abusive husband by inviting him to a party. Domestic abuse groups siding with the woman say abusive people and not their victims must be held responsible for violating protective orders. Prosecutor say the woman should be held accountable as anyone else who helped the husband violate the order. The Justices are expected to rule this summer.
