A local bar is raided, closed and boarded up Friday night by the Zanesville Police Department. According to a statement issued by the ZPD, the Onyx Club located at 932 West Main Street has permitted the buying and selling of illegal drugs for several months. Because the drug violations are deemed dangerous and harmful to the public, the Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Friday issued a temporary injunction allowing the Police Department to close, padlock and board the premises until further notice. Judge Howard Zwelling oversaw the injunction, and set the court date for the owners of the property for May 30, 2003. The owners and residents of the premises, John and Vanzella Norris and Jonathan and Tasia Smith are ordered to vacate the property. No arrests were made, however all property inside the bar will be taken as inventory for the case. The raid was issued by the Project Phoenix, run by Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro.
