The Ohio Senate is considering an alternative way to find scholarship money. The plan is to provide college scholarships for top Ohio high school students with money raised from electronic slot machines. Senate President, Doug White, says the plan could divert a portion of revenue from the slot machines to high school students to attend Ohio colleges and universities. White, a Manchester Republican, says he’s fairly certain the Senate plan would remove the slot machine proposal from the state budget. Instead, lawmakers would send the plan to voters as a proposed amendment to the Ohio constitution in November.
