President Bush is to sign a bill today authorizing 15 billon dollars to fight aids in Africa and the Carribbean. Ohio Senator Mike Dewine is a chief sponsor of the bill. Its goal is to prevent seven million new infections and care for ten million H-I-V-infected people and aids orphans. The president plans to use the bill at a world summit next month to pressure other wealthy countries to follow suit with similar funding increases. However, Congress must still find money for the bill through its regular appropriations process.
