One third of the houses to be demolished as part of the Greenwood Revitalization Project are a pile of bricks and wood. Some residents along the changing road are asking when the rubble and debris will be cleared. According to Community Development Director Meg Deedrick, safety concerns pertaining to gas lines have temporarily halted the demolition phase. Columbia Gas was contacted, and they were able to complete the necessary paperwork to allow the project to move forward. Starting next Monday the remaining eleven houses will be destroyed. As for the debris, Deedrick says once all the houses are demolished, the rubble will be disposed of in an approved landfill.
