Talk of changing Ohio’s tax code has re-emerged at the statehouse now that lawmakers are facing down a 200 millions dollar hole in the budget that ends this month and reduced income projections. Budget Director Tom Johnson is the first witness Wednesday at the first hearing of the Joint House-Senate Committee that must produce a compromise budget for Governor Taft to sign by June 30th. Legislative leaders say they’ve been told Johnson will paint a dark picture of what Ohio’s economy is expected to produce in the way of taxes, fees and other payments that fuel state government.
