A former employee with the Muskingum County Home is scheduled to appear in Muskingum County common pleas court this Thursday. According to County prosecutor Mike Haddox, Marsha Shumate is expected to enter a plea to a prosecutor’s bill of information. Shumate was budget officer for the county home she is under investigation for overspending after the home’s administrator; Rebecca Cooper discovered invoices for large sums of money. The invoices were for several office supply vendors. Shumate is no longer an employee with the home. She was placed on administrative leave in February. According to Muskingum County Commissioner, Ed Kenily, Shumate handed in her resignation on Friday. According to her resignation Shumate says she resigned because of Rebecca Cooper.
