Good news for the Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department. It was anything but good news for the department at last month’s board meeting, where officials discussed possible layoffs because of a lack of funding. That announcement had some employees accusing the department of misspending funds and granting raises – all allegations the department said were not true. However, this month it seems as if all employees at the Department are joining together in unison to help save money and jobs.
According to Health Commissioner, Robert Titko, all the employees have banded together and are donating six days of pay to the clinic within the next few months. This savings will allow the clinic to stay open until the Department places a levy on the November ballot.
Titko also attributes an increase in funds to community members who have paid their overdue clinic bills. If the Department’s levy passes in November, there will be enough funds to operate the clinic for the next 10 years.
