The SARS epidemic has been keeping travelers grounded, but early Tuesday morning the World Health Organization announced that the traveling ban in Hong Kong has been lifted. Even with this encouraging news, the SARS scare remains a major concern for local physicians. According to Dr. William Grant, an infectious disease specialist with the Genesis Healthcare System, the common cold and SARS share a similar virus. Concerns need to be addressed as we move into fall and winter when cold season is prevalent. As of June 20th, a total of 8000 cases had been reported with approximately 805 deaths.
