Business groups are pushing to deny injured workers benefits if the workers were drunk or on drugs at the time the injury happened. A bill sponsored by Rep. Bob Gibbs, a Lakeville Republican would deny worker’s compensation benefits. The Ohio Chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business says the proposal sends the message that drugs and alcohol don’t belong in the workplace. In a decision hailed by unions, the Supreme Court overturned a law in December that made refusal to take a drug test the equivalent of a positive test for drugs or alcohol.
