The National Weather Service says a tornado touched down twice within about 20 minutes causing minor damage around the Lorain County community of Amherst. Frank Keiltyka of the National Weather Service in Cleveland says no one was injured. Winds reached 50 to 75 miles per hour, putting Sunday afternoon’s storm in the smallest class of Tornado. In nearby Henrietta Township, the tornado was on the ground briefly starting at around 2:45 p.m., Keiltyjka said. The most significant damage was at Tony Piwinksi’s bungalow, where the winds damaged rain gutters, uprooted a walnut tree and snapped a utility pole and power and telephone poles. The 84-year-old Piwinski says he had no warning. The storm hit Amherst about 3:05 p.m, causing no damage.
