A former Newark-area volunteer for Big Brothers-Big Sisters of America has been sentenced to 89 years in prison for sexually abusing eleven boys when they were younger than 13. Licking County Common Pleas Judge Thomas Marcelain also classified 35-year-old Scott Wagner as a sexual predator. He won’t be eligible for parole or early release and will be spend the rest of his life in prison unless his conviction is overturned on appeal. Prosecutors said Wagner used a four-wheel vehicle, video games, trips and gifts to lure the boys to his home in Licking County’s McKean Township and to a nearby cabin. The abuse took place between June 1996 and July 2002. Wagner was found guilty of charges including 36 counts of gross sexual imposition, 27 counts of rape and 14 counts of pandering obscene material.
