Suspect In Custody After Shooting in Fairfield County

An area man is in custody after a shooting incident occurred last night in Fairfield County. It happened a little after 10 Monday night when Lancaster police officers responded to a 911 call at 420 Mulberry Street. As officers arrived on the scene they heard shouting and gunshots coming from behind the residence. Officers located a male subject with a gunshot wound in the parking lot in the 400 block of East Wheeling Street. During a search of the area, officers found a firearm and a suspect. The victim was transported to Fairfield Medical Center then transferred to Grant Medical Center. The name and condition of the victim is not yet known. After further investigation, the suspect, 49-year-old Jeffrey Hillen of Lancaster was arrested and charged with one count of felonious assault, a felony of the second degree.
