The city of Newark today announced that it received a 500-thousand dollar grant to improve housing. Mayor Frank Stare says the money comes from the comprehensive housing improvement program for the rehabilitation of owner occupied homes. Stare says Newark faced stiff competition statewide and placed in the top third of applications submitted. Homeowners residing within the city limits may ask about their eligibility by contacting the Newark Department of Community Development.
