A gathering at Dillon State Park brings people back from all over to remember the good old days. Over 100 people came to the third annual Monroe School and Underwood Area Reunion. The school, which was where Zane road is now, officially closed its doors over 30 years ago in 1972. Organizers still like to get together to talk about the way things used to be. Organizer Esther Mercer was really happy with the weather, as sunny skies provided a great setting for chatting and eating. Although she wouldn’t when she graduated, she recalls going to school in the 1930s and playing with her friends. Mercer plans on having another reunion next year and encourages anyone interested in participating to call her 452-1009.
