Prison officials throughout the country were in Columbus Saturday to learn about a new worry in their institutions: the threat of Al-Qaida recruitment of inmates. FBI Agent Andrew Black says there hasn’t been a documented case yet of an inmate being recruited for the terrorist group while in prison, but it’s a serious concern. He says Al-Qaida sees the inmates as potential recruits who would be less likely to attract attention in the United States and western countries than those from Muslim countries. Black is briefing officers who are meeting as part of a convention for the Correction Arms of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees.
