There are reports today of an overturned tanker truck in Fairfield County. The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office received reports of a tanker truck propane spill last night around 9:30 at the intersection of State Route 188 and State Route 256 in Walnut Township. Initial reports claimed the tank was leaking the propane, however when fire departments arrived on the scene they determined there was no leak and they decided to wait until daylight hours today to remove the vehicle. Sheriff Dave Phalen stated that ODOT was called to close any State Routes affected in the area and the Fairfield County Engineers Office is closing some county roads as well. Road closures are as follows: State Route 256 at State Route 13/Perry County Line; State Route 256 at State Route 37; State Route 188 at State Route 204; State Route 188 at the Lancaster Corporation limits; Cattail Road at State Route 188; Cattail Road at State Route 256; Lake Road at State Route 256; and Lake Road at State Route 188. It is estimated that cleanup will take all morning and roads may not be open for travel until noon today. There's no report of any injuries, however the accident remains under investigation.
